At NextOfKin, we are a big fan of high fidelity audio products. Beijing audio peripherals company Dreamwave wanted us to design and visualize what their hero product could be…and we jumped at it! With their team of in-house acoustics engineers, we developed a distinctive vision for Dreamwave’s product line of the future, one that would give them a strong design voice in the audio purist’s heart.
SIGNATURE AIRWAVES
Based on the company’s ethos “Minimal Design, Fanatic Sound!” we wanted to produce some serious sound where the traditional speaker drivers were hidden from sight. We developed a unique set of “Airwave” shaped discs where the acoustics could be redirected and transflected into a wide region of sweet spots throughout the range of frequencies. This was further tuned to with the acoustics of the block of aluminium machined to a pure cylindrical shape
THE PRODUCT VISION
The final vision and audio prototype was demonstrated at CES 2013 in Las Vegas and various road shows to showcase Dreamwave’s commitment to high quality design and acoustics performance. A new category of Super Audio devices was born with the DreamSound vision.
